Rental Terms
Every vehicle rental comes with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which will be provided upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Newry, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees for drivers under 25. You need to possess a valid driving licence for the category of vehicle you wish to rent, held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of current address are required, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria may apply as stated in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Newry office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally payable upon collection of the vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- You must inspect the vehicle thoroughly at collection and report any existing damage immediately. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed. Return the vehicle in the same condition as collected, allowing for normal wear and tear. New damage will be assessed and charged accordingly. Return the vehicle with the same fuel level as collected. Refueling charges will apply if returned with less fuel. Late returns may incur additional charges. Contact us immediately if you anticipate a late return. You are responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental period, plus an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance, with comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial liability, so reviewing these is advisable. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except where additional insurance applies. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Changes and Cancellations
Cancellation and modification policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other risky behavior is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting to others or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose, and all passenger and weight limits must be adhered to. Additionally, driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by law in Northern Ireland, Car Hire Newry will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount you paid for the rental in the past year. This limitation does not affect our liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
10. Terms Updates
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are published on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your agreement to the revised Terms.
